Portland created a true holistic approach to designing a retail destination within an airport. Portland were commissioned by the Nuance group to devise a design strategy in support of their bid to be commissioned to run the retail units at BIAL. The environmental approach was derived from creating a brand that is truthful, respectful and authentic to Bangalore Airports underlining values.

After having established Bangalore’s brand drivers, we became inspired by ‘Rangoli’ an Indian art form based on a continuous decorative pattern applied to a grid. This iconic analogy was adopted within the environment. The outcome a dynamic retail master plan that ultimately has the potential to be a unique landmark destination.

The submission culminated as a series of alluring bound documents that responded to the overall brand vision, a professional signature to a very successful piece of work. The winning result is an approach that both endorses cultural characteristics and has the potential to attract and inspire its customers.
